Based on an original new story by J.K. Rowling, Jack Thorne and John Tiffany, a new play by Jack Thorne, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is the eighth story in the Harry Potter series and the first official Harry Potter story to be presented on stage. The play will receive its world premiere in London’s West End on July 30, 2016.
It was always difficult being Harry Potter and it isn’t much easier now that he is an overworked employee of the Ministry of Magic, a husband and father of three school-age children.
While Harry grapples with a past that refuses to stay where it belongs, his youngest son Albus must struggle with the weight of a family legacy he never wanted. As past and present fuse ominously, both father and son learn the uncomfortable truth: sometimes, darkness comes from unexpected places. (less)
So I watched the Paper Towns movie today and I had mixed feelings about it
Paper Towns follows the story of Quentin, who is an obedient and smart teenager who spends his time with his two geeky best friends. However, he’s always had romantic feelings for his neighbour, Margo Roth Spiegelman.
Margo is a unique character who embraces life and wants to live it to the fullest. She enjoys going missing and leaving clues behind for the people she cares about. One night, she takes Quentin on an adventure to sabotage her cheating ex-boyfriend’s life. The next day, she goes missing, leaving clues for Quentin to find her. This marks the beginning of Quentin’s long journey to find Margo.
So I watched the Paper Towns movie today and I had mixed feelings about it. To say it plainly, I prefer the book over the movie. Here’s why:
theguardianThe book goes in depth and explores each and every character and makes you feel as if you’re part of the story. Quentin is given a unique mindset and personality too. Whereas, in the movie it was as if Quentin was just a guy who’s obsessed with a girl and wants to find her no matter what.
John Green’s style of writing is original and I don’t think a movie can ever show the intensity of his books. Maybe that’s just a personal preference of mine, because he is one of my favourite authors, but that’s just how I felt about the movie.
I feel like the movie was over-hyped as it starred the supermodel Cara Delevingne, which was one of the main reasons many people went to watch the movie. The star-studded cast was impressive but it made the plot seem less interesting.
But other than that, the movie was alright. My favourite part was Ansel Elgort’s cameo role in the movie, which was an unexpected surprise.
Overall, I would definitely recommend that you read the book first and then watch the movie.
